The Apostle Paul says something beautiful and truthful in 1 Timothy 4, but these words are *certain* to offend in today’s world. Let me sum is up as:
➮ Be Warned: Some teachers are hypocritical liars with no conscience
➮ They say: “Never get married! Only eat certain foods!”
➮ Yet, these are the very things, God created to be received with Thanksgiving
➮ People who believe and know the truth accept marriage and all food!
➮ Why? Because everything God created is Good.
➮ Once you’ve given thanks for something, you can’t reject it,
➮ Because—it is made holy by God’s Word and prayer.
You know, it’s interesting isn’t it, that in today’s world we do indeed find a cultural, celebrity message that living together is better than marriage and that certain foods are bad.
In other places, Paul says marriage for some is good, and celibacy for others is better (he's never in favor of living together outside of marriage).
Regarding food, Paul is not saying that limiting your personal food options is bad. That’s not the point. Paul is just saying don’t preach it as a law for everyone.
However, the Spectacular point here is this: the prayers of God's people make things *holy*. How cool is that!
So pray over your marriage and pray over your food, and consecrate it to God!
***A Prayer: Lord, thank You for speaking about our world through You Word. Help us to hear You louder than the messages in the media. Help us to hear and receive Your Truth. Give us wisdom and discernment to understand what is being said by deceiving evil spirits. Protect us from evil! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
